Desi am ramas in urma cu noutatile video, cu piata de placi video etc, trebuie sa te intreb de ce consideri Gainward ca a facut numai tampenii cu placile ATI. Tin minte ca erau recomandate de unii utilizatori, chiar si laudate pe diferite forumuri. S-a dus la 'fund' asa ... brusc?

@Infractor Periculos: Daca nu era 'si'-ul din expresia "Poate scăpăm şi de Palit că numai tâmpenii au făcut" n-as fi zis nimic de Gainward. Asa, din cate am inteles eu, i-a pus in aceeasi oala, de unde si nedumerirea.

Au avut foarte multe probleme atât plăcile Gainward (alea cu răcire custom) cât şi cele Palit (tot cu răcire custom) din seria HD4800. Erau ba arse DOA, ba se ardeau după un timp, ba nu le funcţiona anumite feature-uri (gen modul Turbo), ba temperaturi foarte ridicate, ba performanţe surprinzător de mici and so on. Pentru mine e o ştire bună.

I can't say I'll miss them! I had two 4870 GSs that had to be replaced due to... blowing up with no apparent reason other than playing a graphic intense game for more than 3 hours. Oh yeah, there's also a fan bug, so the fan won't spin up in all 3d games so I have to manually set it before each session...
I can't remember where, but I've seen data somewhere about defect rates in graphics cards and Gainward was the second worse after Gigabyte in the AMD segment or something similar.
So yeah, I won't miss them...

AMD scoate la o demonstraţie primul GPU DX 11.
Spre deosebire de predecesorul său DX10, de data asta vom beneficia de un spor de performanţă. Will see.

Ş-aia-i drept. Vreo trei sau patru săptămâni nu cred că vom pupa plăci la noile preţuri, însă, în viitorul apropiat, devine o soluţie tentantă înaintea altor plăci mai scumpe.

Se pare că ATI joacă tare şi reduce preţurile la HD 4850 sub 100E. Chiar dacă la noi nu vom găsi la preţul de aproximativ 75E, în afară placa va face furori cu siguranţă.

Daca ar fi fost pe 128 biti ar fi fost mult mai bine dar si asa e o placa buna pt HTPC.
Dupa frecvenata noilor produse ale celor de la S3 poate in 1 sau 2 ani vor concura cu greii industriei.

AMD “Evergreen” Graphics Chips: You Won’t Believe Your Eyes… Nvidia!

We’ve got confirmation from AMD that the Evergreen cards are being shown this weekend, at the QuakeCon video game convention in Dallas, Texas.

The word is finally out. AMD will launch it’s much anticipated next generation graphics processors code name “Evergreen” on September 10th; ahead of Windows 7’s launch in late October.

Game Optimizations: ATI Catalyst™ 9.8 Driver

Our test system configuration is: AMD Phenom II 940 (3.0GHz) processor Asus M3A79-T(790) motherboard 4GB DDR2-800 5-5-5-18 memory Windows VISTA Ultimate SP1 64bit

This month we are seeing a massive performance increase with a whole host of games as compared to the ATI Catalyst 9.7 driver. Detailed release notes are available for most of the game optimizations; here are the highlights:

* Battleforge DirectX 10/DirectX 10.1 performance improves of up to 50% with the largest gains in configurations using ATI CrossFireX™ technology.
* Company of Heroes DirectX 10 performance improves of up to 77%.
* Crysis DirectX 10 performance of ATI CrossFireX technology in dual mode improves of up to 10% and quad mode performance improves of up to 34%.
* Crysis Warhead DirectX 10 performance of ATI CrossFireX technology in dual mode improves of up to 7% and quad mode performance improves of up to 69%.
* Far Cry 2 DirectX 10 performance of ATI CrossFireX technology in dual mode improves of up to 50% and quad mode performance improves of up to 88%.
* Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. DirectX 10/DirectX 10.1 performance of ATI CrossFireX technology in dual mode improves of up to 40% and with quad mode performance improving of up to 60%.

It’s fitting that last weekend AMD was in attendance at Quakecon 2009 in Dallas,Texas where the world’s most prolific OpenGLsupporters gathered for 4 days of ‘peace, love and rockets,’ that we are announcing support for OpenGL 3.1 and the following details:

This release of the ATI Catalyst driver provides OpenGL 3.1 extension support. The following is a list of OpenGL 3.1 features and extensions added in ATI Catalyst 9.8:

* Support for OpenGL Shading Language 1.30 and 1.40.
* Instanced rendering with a per-instance counter accessible to vertex shaders (GL ARB draw instanced).
* Data copying between buffer objects (GL EXT copy buffer).
* Primitive restart (NV primitive restart). Because client enable/disable no longer exists in OpenGL 3.1, the PRIMITIVE RESTART state has become server state, unlike the Nvidia extension where it is client state. As a result, the numeric values assigned to PRIMITIVE RESTART and PRIMITIVE RESTART INDEX differ from the NV versions of those tokens. o At least 16 texture image units must be accessible to vertex shaders, in addition to the 16 already guaranteed to be accessible to fragment shaders.
* Texture buffer objects (GL ARB texture buffer object).
* Rectangular textures (GL ARB texture rectangle). o Uniform buffer objects (GL ARB uniform buffer object).
* SNORM texture component formats.

da,se pare ca mi-a crescut scorul din vantage cu 190 puncte si din 3d 03 cu 350 puncte.Am testat si cateva jocuri si am observat o crestere de cateva cadre un unele din ele.Urmeaza sa testez si 3d 01,05 si 06 si sa fac niste teste la oc maxim.

Încearcă tu jocurile, eventual cele în care se pomeneau respectivele creşteri şi lasă benchmarkurile deoparte.

Se pare că o creştere mai mare ar avea cei pe AMD, plăcile video nu mai fiind atât de dependente de procesor.

Vad ca de data asta ne incanta si XtremPC cu un review la 5750 si 5770 si in timp util de data asta. in plus, imi place ca au folosit o platforma potrivita pentru segmentul din care fac parte cele 2 placi:
